Why Be “Life” Coached?

Many of us will entertain the notion that being life coached is an unnecessary exercise. Often, however something outside of our normal circumstance triggers a different perspective.  Everyone has their own motivation(s) for seeking guidance or help.

Do We Need “Fixing”?

Traditionally our view of counselling or guidance has to do with needing psychological help after some traumatic occurrence or we may have had a nervous or mental breakdown.   We have this notion that in seeking counselling there is something wrong with us that needs to be fixed.  With this perception rather firmly in place in this society we have developed an aversion to seeking guidance.  We feel it is a sign of weakness when in truth it shows courage and strength of character.

We Need Each Other

We have a misperception that we ought to be able to take care of ourselves without help.  This perception couldn’t be further from the truth.  In fact we need each other more than we are prepared to admit.

All we need do to see this is to look at our daily functioning.  Where do we get our food and shelter?  We certainly don’t do that single-handed even though we might be capable of doing so.  Think of all those things we take for granted such as roads, water, electricity, grocery stores, libraries, the internet…  These are things that allow us the comforts of modern living and ease of connection and they are all available because we worked together to put them in place.

We can suggest we don’t need people around us to survive but in truth we are social beings and life without connection to others, at least to most of us is unimaginable.  Think of how you cope with emotional situations.  How do you celebrate?  How do you grieve?  Certainly you can do these on your own but these experiences are much more powerful or poignant when shared.

As to developing ideas and learning new things discussions with others and learning or developing areas of expertise is faster and more stimulating when practised within a community of like-minded individuals.

Spiritual Evolution

When we decide to explore our reason for being, when we embark on awakening to our true selves, when we consciously begin to walk a spiritual path we can do this on our own but our growth and development is electrified and enhanced when working with others.  There is always someone who has gone before who is ready and willing to share and guide and these teachers can help in navigating through the tougher patches and celebrating new levels of personal advancement.

Choose Well

Whether you are facing a specific life challenge, looking to achieve a personal goal, or seeking guidance in developing your spiritual consciousness coaching is meant to motivate you, enhance your experience and speed up your process.   Look for someone whose philosophy and methods are a fit for you and if the chemistry doesn’t work there are many great coaches out there!
