Yesterday we looked at how trying to ignore or push away negative thoughts only keeps them around.
If you look at these two men pushing each other we get a sense of how pushing on something will attract a pushing back. Neither of these fellows is going to stop pushing until one caves in. It takes a lot of energy to push something away. It takes energy (concentration) to ignore something even when you are unaware that you are ignoring it.
Something else we tend to do is want positive experiences. We focus on hoping something will come to us. We misperceive that in thinking about this positive thing that we would like to have in our life that we are being positive. We hope that by thinking about this positive thing we will attract it to us.
We can look at this in several ways.
When you don’t have something in your life that you would like to have and you focus on the wanting of that thing you are activating a sense of not having or lack. You are really bringing into focus the feeling of not having it and you are feeding the energetic vibration of lack. So you are creating a gravity well or hole within yourself that attracts more of the ‘not having’. Remember that the more you activate this gravitational pull the bigger it gets.
The other way to see this is when you really want something and focus on it there is a sense of grasping at or reaching for it. The more you reach the further away it gets. The more you hang on the harder it pulls to get away. It is somewhat like a tug-o-war.
Look to your life to see where you grasp and where you repel. They are two sides of the same coin.
