Learning a New Way of Being
Just like learning a new skill such as playing a musical instrument you must dedicate yourself to the task. If you do not set your intent and follow through the results will be unsatisfactory. If you are to remain consciously aware you must practice staying ‘awake’.
Remind yourself consistently throughout your day that this is your intent. Do whatever it takes to get your attention focussed on the task. Get silly if that works for you.
- set an alarm to go off regularly
- wear a bracelet or a string around your finger
- partner up with someone to remind each other
- stick notes around your home
Every time you get the opportunity or remember to be awake check in with your self. What do you notice about what you are thinking and feeling? What is your physical body doing? What is your physical body experiencing?
What is going on around you? What is in your Mirror?
Get used to noticing yourself and your world.
