Taking a Break

Last sunday’s break included some travel, visiting my beautiful daughter, handsome son-in-law and sweet baby granddaughter.  As well we celebrated the 60th birthday of a dear friend.

And I took on a challenge.  His favourite cake is of all things:

Black Forest Cake!

I don’t bake much anymore unless I can share the results.  Otherwise my hips will become a hazard.  So this was a joyful albeit daunting undertaking.  Some of the guests at the party are gluten intolerant so I had to make this with appropriate flour.  It does not bake the same way so needless to say the cake didn’t quite look like this!

But it tasted great and was a big hit.

I hope your day off was as tasty and fun!
